CBI knows 'exactly' where Dawood Ibrahim is
NEW DELHI: The CBI said on Wednesday it knew "exactly" where Dawood
Ibrahim is but Pakistan was not cooperating in handing over the
international terrorist wanted in India in connection with the 1993
Mumbai serial bomb blasts.
"We
know exactly where Dawood Ibrahim is and efforts are being made to get
it (deportation done) through diplomatic channels and through the
international community," CBI chief Vijay Shankar said here on the
sidelines of the 9th D P Kohli Memorial lecture.
Responding to a
query on the reasons for delay in bringing back the main accused in the
blasts cases, Shankar said "Pakistan is not cooperating with India" and
hence the delay.
"He (Dawood) is in such a country which
has a record of not cooperating with India when it comes to terrorism,"
the Director said referring to Pakistan.
He said "government has facts that some terrorist organisation are getting a safe shelter in Pakistan".
Shankar, however, expressed confidence that despite non-cooperation by Pakistan, CBI would bring Dawood to book.
"We are very sure that he (Dawood) would not be away from the long arms of the law for long," Shankar added.
