Some BBC Code Buggy?
I just bought this software & am using the one offered for download...3.6.8 Patch 2. I also bought the blog. I installed it in my main directory...added the blog, added CMPS, & added the arcade. I also added 2 skins. I had 2 problems. 1. Topic titles wouldn´t show edited at the top or outside the boards looking at the main forum. 2. http://x.dawnswebdesigns.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81 Please note...the [img] tags placed within the [code] tags is fine...only the [url] tags have a problem.
I requested help & while waiting took off the CMPS & switched to MKPortal...this fixed the first problem. But then this created a new problem...the arcade quit working. While I´m fooling around with/requesting help with the arcade I get a reply from vb telling me step 1, step 2, etc. So I follow them all except one they forgot to mention. Still problem 2...so I contacted vb again.
While waiting for a reply I noticed moving vb to the /forum directory for MKPortal may have freaked out the database. On my default style I had to add /forum to all the image paths...making them look custom & appear in orange. Anybody know how to fix it? Reinstall vb with the correct path for the database? Or would reinstalling it delete any board info I already have within the database tables? If I back-up the database don´t I also back-up the screwed up settings? Is it possible to just save the board/post tables & only reinstall them?
I ask because I noticed uninstalling/reinstalling the blog & arcade repeatedly over 2 lousy bugs deleted everything from the database tables. Of course I deleted the Arcade´s database tables hoping when I reinstalled them it´d fix its bug. Luckily it´s only me (for right now) & I was just testing things. But my forum´s full of tutorial like posts & I can´t lose them.
I re-added the MKPortal (which is very little code & only on one page), the blog & the arcade. The arcade tells you to add a lil code to an index.php file but I´m not sure which one...MKP´s or VB´s...therefore added it to both. I don´t know if it was that or emptying my cache as one of vb´s "steps" but it´s working now & I´m a happy hag.
The next reply from vb is you don´t help people with plug-ins & to take everything off then go through all these steps yet again. To which I replied...with an old computer & dial-up? For one lil bug? At least only one bug that I know of that visitors/members can notice? A bug that was happening before the directory switch so I can´t blame it on that?
How many of you just read I have 3 mods & had 2 themes? MKPortal isn´t even really a mod...it´s in its own directory & has its own database tables. How many of you just read I have one lil bug & it has nothing to do with receiving database errors? My very last email from vb included this:
