Dr totally unaware of exemption
So I went to the Ped yesterday, simply to get DD a referal to a dermatologist. I very rarely take any of the 5 kids. My youngest DS is 2yo & has only been seen at 3 days old. At that visit vaxes were brought up. They are ok with non-vaxing. The Dr then actually assumed we wouldn´t, because we homeschool. Well, yesterday I mentioned to the lady doc (never seen her before) that DD might be breaking out with chicken pox in the next day or 2. (neighbor had it last weekend YAY!) So we talked vaxes - with her agreeing completely with everything I said. Here´s the thing - I said so many parents don´t realize they can say no. Her response was that was only because I home school. I told her there are exemptions...she was surprised, and said, "Wow, you sure wouldn´t think it from the way they (the schools) carry on." So the doctor didn´t know there are exemptions! That´s unreal to me! I don´t know about elswhere, but here there is a lot of chicken pox going around in vaccinated kids age 5-10. So all children over 4yo without a Dr documented case of CP MUST get a booster before school starts up inthe fall! Talk about an ineffective vax! These kids are going to be left unprotected as adults unless they get a vax every 5 years! The main Dr was standing at the reception area talking to parents about the need for this booster - I spoke up with, "wouldn´t it be better to get these kids a natural case of CP and be done with it?" Boy did I get a look!LOL! OK, OK, sorry for the long post....I DO have a question! I have never filled out any kind of exemption - we´ve lived in Fl & now GA. What about Boy Scout & Girl Scout camp????? This year my oldest 3 kids are going. With my oldestDS who was vaxed to age 6 (not as many things as they vax for now) I just made up dates to put on the form & got my chiro to sign it. He asked about the vaxes & I told him that one actually was. Sooo... do I just make up dates for all my kids on these forms & let the chiro sign his name to my *made up info* (lies) or is there some way to do exemptions for sout camp? I didn´t want to try asking around to people in the organizations who actually know us. Then I would be *outed* & couldn´t go back to using made up info ykwim!
