clarification re: shingles vax and CP - help!
So my mom had wild CP as a child. Both my bro and I had wild CP so she had exposures later on and she was also a teacher. Just for background, I guess. She and my father decided to get the ´shingles vaccine´ a month ago. During which time my mom was ALSO receiving cortisone shots in her back and in her knee for pain control (don´t get me started). Of course we know that cortisone shots decrease natural immune response. I just want to clarify that the vaccine did indeed ´cause´ the shingles to flareup. I´ll try to stay on topic here because I´m 39 weeks pregnant and very um, let´s say FRUSTRATED with this situation. My mom is my only support system postpartum and I anticipate a rough recovery like last time (monster rectocele and pretty much bedridden for at least 3 weeks, long recovery after that). She´s one of those medicine-fixes-everything kind of people so of course didn´t research the potential effects of the vaccine. Anyway...that isn´t relevant. My 21mo is completely unvaxed and obviously I will also have a newborn. I don´t want my 21mo to get CP yet (not wanting to deal with that ATM) nor my newborn. How long does my mom need to stay away? Her doc said after the the blisters scab over but can´t it recur again and again w/i a time frame? How do I know she´s safe to come?
